Pro Guides
Profile: Kaziamai Dube

I was born in a small coal-mining town of Hwange, 100km from the world famous Victoria Falls in the western part of Zimbabwe. I am a native African and my mother language is Nambiya which is a dialect of Shona. However, English is my main language for communicating with all. I did my High school education at Embakwe were I was boarding. Straight after school I went into workshops and did Motor Mechanics as a prerequisite to Safari guiding. I later joined Chikwenya Safari Lodge in Mana Pools NP were I worked for 5years and subsequently qualified as a Pro Safari guide. I have since recieved the Prestigious Award of Best guide 2010 from the Zimbabwe Professional Hunters & Guides Association. For more about me, let us meet in the wilderness …Yours Truly, Kaz~Dube.
Customer Testimonials:
When three of us travelled to Zimbabwe to spend 5 days at Chekwenya Lodge in early August 2010 we were hosted and guided by Kazimai.
Having been fortunate enough to have travelled extensively in reserves in Southern Africa and Zambia over the last 40 years, we have been fortunate enough to have met many guides and rangers and learn from them (sometimes!) and believe that we are in a position to pass fair comment on a guides knowledge and ability.
In Kazimai, we found the highest standards. Firstly, as a host his appearance and manners were impeccable. he is a gentle man with a pleasant disposition who appeared very comfortable with us despite our years. Yet when we broke the odd rule, he firmly brought us into line.He was always happy to do what we wanted, and finding the Big Five was not his burning ambition (nor ours) and his overall knowledge of the bush was wide and good, and we subsequently learned plenty of new things from him. Admittedly Chikwenya is his “patch” and I am sure the very high standards set by the Zimbabwe Hunters and Guides Association but I feel he would be highly competent anywhere. His desire to learn more about all things, I am sure, will stand him in good stead for what I am sure will be a very bright and successful future.

Kaz has a tremendous depth of knowledge, a kind demeanor and accommodating manner. He has a fantastic ability to bring the bush to life – instilling understanding and respect for wildlife in anyone fortunate enough to spend time with him in Zim. He is a consummate professional and one of Chikwenya’s strongest assets! Thanks for all the insight and education Kaz!
Best
Chris
